To the California Air Resources Board (CARB)

California leads the world in developing and manufacturing electric buses and they are ready to be used today. Electric transportation benefits all Californians, bringing us cleaner air, reduced global warming emissions, local jobs, and economic benefits for taxpayers who will need to pay less to maintain these buses. I’m writing to share my support for the Innovative Clean Transit initiative and ask that you support the strongest possible version of this regulation in order to accelerate the the deployment of electric buses in California. With advances in battery technology, zero-emission buses are now beating the fossil fuel incumbents on fuel efficiencies and total cost of ownership. Most importantly, electric buses significantly reduce air pollution in disadvantaged communities statewide, whose residents disproportionately suffer from pollution-linked public health issues, including incidences of asthma and heart disease and premature death. Please support a strong Innovative Clean Transit initiative that will set us on the path to a zero-emission transit system by 2040.

Call CARB Today

To voice your opinion on the Innovative Clean Transit measure, please call the California Air Resources Board Liaison at 916-372-6247. An old fashioned phone call is still one of the most effective means for communicating your perspective and having your opinion accounted for in the official decision making process of legislatures, boards, and agencies. Below is a sample message:

Hello, my name is [your name] and I live in [your city], I’m calling to ask you to support the earliest possible adoption of the Innovative Clean Transit Initiative and a commitment to 100% zero-emission transit fleets by 2040. Zero-emission transportation benefits all Californians. It brings us cleaner air, reduced global warming emissions, and local job creations. Thank you for your time.

Air pollution kills 7 million people a year, and 9 of 10 people around the world are exposed to dangerously high levels of pollutants that can lead to cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Transport is a significant and growing contributor to particulate air pollution exposures. Road transport is estimated to be responsible for up to 50% of PM emissions in OECD countries – mostly due to diesel traffic.

Stand up For the Environment

Life cycle global warming emissions from battery electric buses are more than 70%  lower than both CNG and diesel buses.

Stand up for the Economy

California is home to four electric bus manufacturers employing hundreds of people across the golden state. More electric buses means more clean jobs.

Stand up For our Children

Air pollution from transportation impairs the health of far too many Californians, and our children face special respitory risks from poor air quality as their lungs develop.
